Les Revenants: A legion of dedication, and a difficult project.

Trying to "map out" how fans dealt with "adaptations" of Les Revenants and comparing it to ABC's version of Resurrection proved surprisingly difficult.

General topics of discussion on the Les Revenants Reddit pages were
1. When Les Revenants would be available in specific countries (ex: Australia, Canada, Germany)
2. The similarities between the ABC show Resurrection and Les Revenants (basic plot lines, characters, love triangles and sex appeal)
3. Fans of Les Revenants were NOT fans of Resurrection, whereas fans of Resurrection did not address Les Revenants much at all on the few sites I did manage to analyze. (Facebook, Reddit, briefly Fan Forum for Resurrection, and Urban75 for Les Revenants).

Some more generalized observations of fan websites were that each maintained a "hierarchy" of fans such as "elite, "total fan", "fan forum hero", and the administrator for the fan page.

The fans of Les Revenants and dealing with various forms of adaptations did not however let the free interpretation of what "adaptations" are affect fan community canon (such as discussion, analyzation, "shipping", OTP's, etc).

The only frustrating thing with using fan forums is that sometimes the users on various forums put their location, such as North London, New York, etc., but others do not, making it difficult to track down exactly who and where Les Revenants is being watched and talked about.

Subjects of distribution and subtitles were also mentioned primarily on fan sites and highlighted some of the challenges of adapting a foreign text to various other "local" settings.

Either fan community for Les Revenants or Resurrection both focused on aspects of the show they enjoyed, didn't enjoy, and theories for events in upcoming seasons. All of these general topics can be found on the Les Revenants and Resurrection fan pages I previously linked to.

One cool foreign fansite I did manage to stumble upon was a Facebook page for Les Revenants Brasil

Through this fan community, they posted updates about a Season 2 production of Les Revenants, the problems of waiting for a Season 2 airing of Les Revenants in Brasil according to a Facebook post from March 25th, 2014 that does not include a link to a corresponding article, and my favorite, fan art made by Carole Maurel
